Glasgow RC Club are a friendly community group of like-minded volunteers, who race electric powered radio controlled 1/10th off-road buggies and trucks in the Glasgow area.
Previously known as Glasgow Model Car Club and a long time ago we were also known as East Kilbride Model Car Club. We have been established for over 30 years providing a fun, safe and sociable way to enjoy the hobby racing 1/10th electric buggies. We are constantly improving our own all-weather AstroTurf outdoor track facility to provide a superb venue for everyone who wants to take part in RC racing, focused on fun, racing, learning and making friends. We always aim to be friendly and welcoming to all!
RC clubs are generally run by volunteers in the UK, and we are no different! People that attend RC clubs are there primarily for the fun of it. Being able to chat about RC with like-minded people, to relax and switch off from a busy week, have fun driving the cars, to tinker and work on their cars, share information and skills – it really is a social hobby. You will make some great friends and make some great memories.
Club racing is the lifeblood of RC racing, with the relaxed social side and easy going, friendly competition, it is the place where you will find out if you like racing. We always recommend you don’t take things too seriously, especially when you are trying to beat your mates for bragging rights, it can become serious 😊.

There are drivers of all levels at Glasgow RC Club, from beginners to those that have been driving for years. Don’t worry about not being good enough – just concentrate on enjoying yourself! You will normally be racing others of a similar skill level and you will be amazed how quickly your skills will develop.
If you are new to the hobby and are interested in finding out more, get in touch, pop down and say hello, as our members will be keen to show their pride and joy, and will explain some things about the cars. The club also have some demo cars (Club Cars) for anyone thinking of taking up the hobby, but these must be booked in advance or contact us, as we don’t keep them onsite. These can be booked for 5 or 10 minutes for a quick try, or you can book one for the whole race day!
Our outdoor RC track is the biggest in Scotland at 50m x 28m with an astroturf surface that includes tabletops, the bombhole and also moveable jumps. We have a number of tables. chairs and gazebo shelters available and will try and accommodate any visitors. We also have 240v mains power for charging and a high powered blower for use to clean the cars if needed.
We run at the track on most Sundays outdoors at our track between March and mid October. You can find our events calendar here – https://glasgowrc.com/calendar/
We hold regular social nights at the East Kilbride Sports Club building mostly on a Wednesday evening, especially when the weather or lack of light means we have to stop running on the track. Social nights can be an excellent way of learning and a place where you can ask questions about anything RC related. Subjects often include what to buy, car setup, driving techniques and many more!
Lots of info also available on our Facebook group.
